What do you get when you take a team of innovative photographers, enthusiastic attendees, and four lovely models on a road trip to Vegas- and give them an iconic, vintage ’67 convertible? In this case, we got stunning editorial images, some serious girl time, and laughter to the point of tears on a few occasions- but most importantly, Deconstructed. What is Deconstructed? Well, we wanted to essentially reinvent the standard shootout. We are seasoned portrait photographers, but for Deconstructed, we doubled as tour guides, too.
Our tour guides share a love of photography and a canny eye for beauty, but we are also visionaries who invite our models to share their visions with us as well. In February 2019, our team of four talented photographers embarked upon a collaborative adventure to Las Vegas, NV. Although some of our attendees were unable to make it due an unexpected appearance of winter in Vegas, the four of us were joined by ten other photographers and the trip was a great success.
Our team of Deconstructed instructors included True Moua, Brittney Kluse, Holli True, and Jolene Dombrowski. On the first day, it was just the four of us and our models. We let the wind take us to Nelson’s Ghost town, historic home of the Eldorado Canyon Mine. The classic old Western vibe and majestic mountain views brought our trademark use of natural light to vivid life on camera. On the second day, our attendees accompanied us on a further exploration of Nelson, NV with our four models, the aforementioned vintage convertible, and a 15 passenger van in tow! The spectacular day ended with a sunset shoot on Eldorado Dry Lake Beds. If you’re not familiar with the Dry Lake Beds, a cursory glance at its natural beauty and splendor will show you why it’s been home to various famous movie sets, commercials, and professional photography shoots. The land’s unfiltered access to the sun (or in our case, the ambient play of shadow and light at sunset) made it perfect for Get Deconstructed. We are always brainstorming the next fun adventure we can offer our fellow photographers and clients! For now keep up with the four of us on our photography podcast, Certified Madness which can be found on Spotify and Itunes! Get your drink ready, whether it be coffee, tea or wine, (line by our famous Brittney Kluse )we don’t judge and come listen to some real-talk about life and photography!
